The Beauty of the Print

For the last few years, so many people who have been searching for a photographer, a wedding photographer in particular, have asked one main question in the midst of their search, "Do we get a CD of the images?". There is nothing wrong with this but there is one big thing that comes along with it or should I say doesn't come along with it. Many clients have ONLY wanted the CD.

This has really diminished the overall experience that you as the client have paid for when hiring your photographer. I totally understand that there is value in taking those images and putting them on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and the many other social sites on the internet. But what about the walls of your home? Can you really hang a CD over your fireplace or have it on the wall as one of the first things your guests see when they visit you?

I decided to write this after I too fell victim to this same mentality. You see, Kelley and I were married in June of 2008, and I just ordered wedding book a couple of weeks ago. Why you may ask... Because we received a disc of images too and that disc just sat, and sat and sat for years. And then I realized that I didn't have any memories at hand to view in my home.

I understand that many times, just getting the disc of images may be the cheaper option, but it may cost you more in the long run. Ordering those framed prints or canvas gallery wall art pieces will probably cost you more money if you order down the road. It's just something to think about when you are making your decision. The images below are a couple of canvas gallery wraps that I have in the area where I meet my clients.

Bridewater Virginia Wedding: Ann + Brian

Kelley and I had a great time working and celebrating the wedding of Brian and Ann. It was our first time visiting Bridgewater Virginia and I have to say it was the perfect location for their wedding. The ceremony was held at Bridgewater Church of the Brethern and the reception took place at James Madison University. One of the things that I really love about this couple was the attention to detail they had with everything. The vibrant colors and scenic views made for some amazing photographs. Ann selected what had to be the most beautiful and elegant bridesmaids dresses that I have ever seen. Here are a few of my favorite images from their wedding.

Chuck Brown Memorial Celebration

On May 31, 2012, Washington DC came together to celebrate the life and legacy of Chuck Brown, the godfather of Go-Go. The viewing had been held just two days before on the campus of Howard University however on this day, there was more of a feeling of celebration and remembrance as opposed to mourning. In all, 9,000 people poured into the Washington DC Convention Center to pay their final respects. Donnie Simpson was the officiant for the ceremony which hosted many VIP's and celebrity personalities. The event was capped with a stirring eulogy from Dr. Michael Freeman followed by All-Star performance by several Go-Go legends from the Washington DC area.
